The Boysen Dam to canyon mouth stretch of Wind River is 12 miles long and has been rated as a class I-III section by American Whitewater. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Wyoming tend to be more challenging than the national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners.     Wind River doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Boysen Dam to canyon mouth stretch is the only one. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so pack your camping stuff. The campgrounds here at Wind River are pretty good. Briefly about the general area: Going for a hike along the Johnson Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area, and a brilliant place to check out is Teeter Canyon. For the duration of the warm months at Wind River highs are usually in the 80's. Through the moonlight hours it's generally in the 50's. High temperatures throughout the wintertime are normally in the 30's; during the dark hours in the wintertime at Wind River temperatures sink to the 0's. Wind River is a location that is relatively waterless generally; May is when you get the most rain here; the driest of the months is February.
