CLASS III-V 20 miles
This section of Yellowstone River in Park County is 20 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III-V section of whitewater. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. The natural beauty of Park County and the water flowing gracefully down Yellowstone
River will make you feel great. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Wyoming are often more challenging than in other states, so don't forget that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. This section has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so why not
pack your camping stuff too. The wild scenery of the Absaroka Range is great. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a pretty small number of paddling places.
Briefly about the general area: There's nice hiking along the Lower Blacktail Trail. Around Yellowstone River you don’t get a lot of rainfall; the wettest month of the year is generally May, that's the one that rains the most, and February meanwhile is the driest month. All through
the summer, highs frequently are in the 80's at Yellowstone River. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 50's. For the period of the winter the highs are ordinarily in the 30's; overnight lows during the wintertime for Yellowstone River tend to be in the 10's.
