The scenic beauty of Park County and the water flowing gracefully down Yellowstone River attract people from near and far. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Wyoming is often more difficult than elsewhere, so better not forget that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you won't find many other paddling rivers. You can enjoy this section more if you take your time, so pack your camp stove. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few
others too. This stretch of Yellowstone River in Wyoming is 20 miles long and has been rated as a class III-V section by American Whitewater. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while are sure to keep you coming back for more. The Absaroka Range scenery
is wonderful. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby.
Briefly about the general area: Yellowstone River is mostly a rather dry place; May is the month that gets the most rain, and February is when it's the driest. Through the warmest time of the year here at Yellowstone River, high temperatures mostly get into the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures dip down into the
50's. The winter comes with highs in the 30's, and night lows during the winter for Yellowstone River tend to be in the 10's. Yellowstone River is right by the Lower Blacktail Trail.
