The wonderful Fremont County scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Royal Gorge Rafting will make you feel great. If you're coming from Canon City it's not a long drive at all to the starting location. There aren’t any hotels right |
nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Great exercise
| and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Colorado is often more difficult than elsewhere, so keep in mind that many runs in this state are not easy. The river winds through the Front Range and you get great scenery.

the general area: If you fancy a little side visit, try Mikesell Gulch; you'll meet a lot of people from Canon City here. These mountains rock, just look at all the enjoyable things to do in the Front Range. A visit
to Red Rocks Spring will fill your soul with wonderful feelings, and don't leave Royal Gorge Rafting without first going for a hike along the Tanner Trail. This is such a fun river. There's pleasant hiking along the Stultz
Trail. Summertime brings highs in the 70's to Royal Gorge Rafting while nighttime lows are mostly in the 40's. Through the winter the highs are usually in the 20's while the cold winter nights at Royal Gorge Rafting are in the-10's.
