You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people
| coming here. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Alabama are often tougher than in other states, so better not forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. There are nice comfortable hotels here, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river | |

system, there are a few others too. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's perfect for a one day trip.
Briefly about the general area: Moccasin Shoals is a great spot to look at, and
you'll perhaps meet some folks from Wetumpka here. All through the warm months at Coosa River highs are regularly in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures dip down into the 60's. The cold days of the wintertime come
with highs in the 50's with temperatures at Coosa River dipping down into the 30's during winter nights. Coosa River is a wet place that gets a large amount of precipitation.
