The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Albertville, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great attractions for lots of people. This is a pretty short section so it's not     like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling spots. This stretch of Cotaco Creek in Alabama is 3.8 miles long and has been rated as a class III-IV section by American Whitewater. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the Matt Morrow Road to Ruth Road section is one of them. The average Alabama whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. You   might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Briefly about the general area: Moon Hollow is a wonderful spot to spend some time at, and there are plenty of people from Joppa here. Cotaco Creek frequently gets lots of precipitation. All through the month of March you get the most rain around here; the driest of the months is October.
