The beautiful scenery of Blount County and the cool fresh water have people coming here. If you're coming from Cullman it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. This section of Graves Creek in Alabama is 1.5 miles long and has been rated as a class III section by American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Alabama are harder |
than the national norm, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many runs in this state are not easy. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. If you're a camper
| you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good rivers for that around here. This is a somewhat short | |
|
section so better bring some good walking shoes.
Briefly about the general area: If you're here at Graves Creek, checking out Blackwood Bend is a must, and if you're popping by from Blountsville, you won't be

the year at Graves Creek comes with high temperatures in the 80's, and the overnight is slightly chillier of course, ordinarily in the 60's. Daytime highs during the wintertime are in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Graves Creek are in the 20's.
