  The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Alabama are often more challenging than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. This section of Guess Creek is 8.5 miles long and is a class III-IV+ section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The scenic beauty of Jackson Co County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to
    come here and paddle. No need to look hard for hotels, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The put-in location is a short
drive from Huntsville, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are not so many other good rivers for that around here. This stretch is mid length, suitable for an afternoon trip. This is the only paddling section along Guess Creek.

Big Spring is a good local attraction; while you're here why not take a look
at Fagan Hollow. Fagan Spring is a scenic place to stop by while you're at Guess Creek; Monte Sano State Park is a great spot to stretch your legs a bit. This river is so good. You'll meet a lot of people from Huntsville here. All through the summer months at Guess Creek temperatures are typically in the 80's. Summer nighttime lows plunge down to the 60's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Guess Creek. A lot of rainfall falls at Guess Creek. Most of the rain falls through March; August meanwhile is the driest month.
