The beautiful scenery of Alabama and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The Rock City to South Sauty Creek stretch of Kirby Creek in Alabama is 2.4 miles long and has been rated as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Alabama are harder than the national norm, so better not forget that rivers here are less forgiving. The |
nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots
| of good spots for that around here. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. This section is quite short so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Scottsboro, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. This is one of a small number of paddling | |
