The wonderful Dekalb/ Cherokee County scenery and the cool fresh water will make you feel great. The average Alabama whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. A bit of exercise     and just being out on the river for a while are sure to keep you coming back for more. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling rivers. This stretch is short so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too. This stretch of Little River in Dekalb/ Cherokee County is 3.08 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be   a class II-V section. Briefly about the general area: Going to Desoto State Park near Little River is a good thing to do, and Needle Rock is an attention-grabbing thing to catch a sight of if you're here. Little River Canyon National Preserve is a very good place to visit near Little River, and there are plenty of folks from Gaylesville here. This river is always fun. Little River Falls is a good local attraction. Little River is a pretty wet place usually with lots of rain. March is the month that gets the most rain; October on the other hand is the driest. The warmest time of the year at Little River arrives with high temperatures in the 80's while overnight lows are usually in the 60's.
