The beautiful scenery of Alabama and the water flowing gracefully down Mill Creek attract people from near and far. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Cullman, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. This is an extremely short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. This is one of a small number of |
paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing
| to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good places for that around here.
Briefly about the | |
|
general area: Cold Spring is an inspiring spot to stop by while you're here, and this is a popular place for people from Hayden. Don't leave Mill Creek without first paying a visit to Sulphur Spring. A visit to Rickwood
Caverns State Park invigorates the soul. Throughout the warmest time of the year here at Mill Creek, high temperatures mostly get into the 80's. All through the moonlight hours it's commonly in the 60's. The wintertime brings
highs down to the 40's; after the sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at Mill Creek dip into the 20's. Mill Creek is a reasonably wet place frequently with a great deal of precipitation.
