  The nature scenery of De Kalb County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from near and far. This section of Scarham Creek in Alabama is 2.1 miles long and it is classified as a class III+(V) section by American Whitewater. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling rivers. If you're a camper you can camp at
    one of the great campgrounds nearby. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Alabama tend to be more challenging than the national average, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are less forgiving.
Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. The Double Bridges to Short Creek section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. This is a somewhat short section so better bring some good walking shoes. There are some good hotels near the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination.

A journey to Lake Guntersville State Park when you're here at Scarham Creek is a splendid idea, and there are plenty of people from Albertville here at Scarham Creek. Going to Buck's Pocket State Park near Scarham Creek is a wonderful thing to do, and don't leave Scarham Creek without first checking out Blue Bend. This river is so great. Scarham Creek gets a large amount of water. The month of March is the wettest with most of the rain while October is the month with the least amount of precipitation. At Scarham Creek all through the summertime highs are in the 90's. Throughout the dark hours of summer temperatures sink down into the 60's.
