The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Albertville, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. This stretch is short so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming     from far and near. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Alabama are often tougher than in other states, so keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less manageable. The wonderful Alabama scenery and the playfulness of the water have people coming here. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. For all you   camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Briefly about the general area: A journey to Lake Guntersville State Park when you're here at Shoal Creek is never a bad idea; during your spree here you'll meet some people from Albertville for sure. Buck's Pocket State Park is a delightful site to stop at on a wonderful day. Throughout the summer months, highs ordinarily are in the 90's at Shoal Creek. Once the sun is down it sinks down to the 60's. For the duration of the wintertime this place gets highs in the 50's; after the sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at Shoal Creek descend into the 30's.
