The natural beauty of Alabama and the water flowing gracefully down Shoal Creek are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Alabama is often more difficult than elsewhere, so don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. You might have to settle for a hotel     a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great attractions for lots of people. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. The campgrounds here at Shoal Creek are pretty good. The put-in is not too far from Albertville, as you can see on the road map further down. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good rivers for that around here. Briefly about the general area: Since you're here at Shoal Creek why not go to Long Hollow,   and Blowing Cave Spring is a beautiful site to check out while you're at Shoal Creek. What would a place like Shoal Creek be without out of the ordinary close by highlights like Blue Rock Bluff. You'll meet a lot of people from Union Grove here; Cathedral Caverns State Park is both wonderful and beautiful. The high level of rain makes Shoal Creek a reasonably wet place. For the duration of March this area sees the most rain, and October is when it's the driest. Through the warm months here at Shoal Creek, high temperatures usually get into the 80's. For the period of the moonlight hours it's ordinarily in the 60's.
