The starting point is not too far from Birmingham-Hoover, as you can see on the road map further down. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you won't find many other paddling spots. Summertime highs at Six Mile Bend ordinarily tend to be in the 90's; the night is rather chillier of course, frequently in the 60's. Through the winter highs are in the 50's with winter lows in the 30's overnight here at Six Mile Bend.
