  The starting point is not too far from Birmingham-Hoover, as you can see on the road map further down. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. The wonderful Bibb County scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Six Mile Bend will make you feel great. The nearby hotels are
    a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. On this section you do get some distance, suitable for an afternoon trip. If you're a camper you can camp at one of
the great campgrounds nearby. This stretch of Six Mile Bend in Alabama is 9.8 miles long and it is classified as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you won't find many other paddling spots. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well.

checking out Bulldog Bend is a must; there are plenty of folks from Brierfield here. Six Mile Bend typically gets a lot of precipitation. March is the wettest month with most rain while October is frequently the driest month. Summertime highs at Six Mile Bend ordinarily tend to be in the 90's; the night is rather chillier of course, frequently in the 60's. Through the winter highs are in the 50's with winter lows in the 30's overnight here at Six Mile Bend.
