On this section you do get some distance, it's good length for a morning trip. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. The campgrounds here at Town Creek are pretty good.

like to hang out close by; Buck's Pocket State Park is a fine location to stretch your legs a bit. Not far from Town Creek you come across Redbud Point, and a good site is Wheeler Hollow. This river is so perfect. Places
like Lake Guntersville State Park are perfect to pop by. Town Creek gets a lot of water. Most of the rain falls through March while October is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Summertime highs at Town Creek
usually tend to be in the 90's; the night is somewhat cooler of course, typically in the 60's. Through the winter highs are in the 40's with temperatures at Town Creek dipping down into the 20's through winter nights.
