  The starting location is a short drive from Montgomery, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Alabama you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. This stretch of Walnut Creek in Alabama is 4.1 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-III section
    of whitewater. The scenic beauty of Chilton County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The County Road 32 to Lake Mitchell section is one of a few paddling sections
in this river system. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This stretch has has enough mileage, you can easily run it on an afternoon. You might be  
into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a pretty small number of paddling rivers.

Briefly about the general area:
Walnut Creek is not far at all from Clanton. At Walnut Creek all through the warmest time of the year highs are in the 90's. When the night sets in temperatures fall down into the 60's. All through the winter this place gets highs in the 50's, and after the sun is down all through the winter temperatures at Walnut Creek sink into the 30's. Walnut Creek sees pretty high levels of rain. All through March this area sees the most rain, and October is when it's the driest.
