  The put-in location is a short drive from Juneau, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Alaska is often more difficult than elsewhere, so keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature will have you coming back for more. There's camping available near Carlson Creek. This stretch of Carlson
    Creek in CBJ Borough is 2 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II-III(IV) section. The Lower Canyon to Tidewater section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. There aren’t any hotels
right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you won't find many other paddling spots. This is a somewhat short section so no need to bring snacks.

of people from nearby Juneau. On a good day it's a magnificent idea to spend the day at Ready Bullion Beach. There's wonderful hiking along the Mount Roberts Trail. Summertime highs at Carlson Creek typically tend to be in the 60's. Throughout the moonlight hours it's frequently in the 40's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 20's, and overnight lows throughout the winter for Carlson Creek tend to be in the 10's. Carlson Creek sees pretty high levels of rainfall. Of all the months in a year October is the one with the most rain, and the driest month is April.
