  The scenic beauty of Valdez-Cordova Census Area Borough and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The Lower Tonsina to Copper River Bridge stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. The beauty of the Wrangell Mountains is a great plus for this river. This section of Cheshnina River in Alaska is 23 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater
    to be a class III+ section. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your camping stuff. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem
and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. The campgrounds here at Cheshnina River are pretty good. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states,  
so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere.

Briefly about the general area:
For the duration of the warm days of summer, highs frequently are in the 60's at Cheshnina River; throughout summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 0's; overnight lows at Cheshnina River through the wintertime regularly descend into the-20's. Cheshnina River is a location that is relatively dried out usually. July is when you get the most rain here, and April is the month with the least moisture.
