A stretch this long is of course too much for a one day trip, perfect for a real wilderness adventure. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so you'd better keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. Not too many     hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling rivers. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. There's camping available near Chickaloon River. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came. The Talkeetna Mountains scenery is wonderful. This section of Chickaloon River is 33 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III+(IV) section. Man, is there a lot of exciting stuff to do in the Talkeetna Mountains. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Chickaloon River; Chickaloon River Trail is a fine local trail. All through the days of summer at Chickaloon River highs are generally in the 60's. When the night sets in temperatures fall down into the 40's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 10's while the cold winter nights at Chickaloon River are in the-10's. Chickaloon River gets very little rainfall.
