The wonderful Alaska scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Chickaloon River make the trip here worthwhile. A stretch this long is of course too much for a one day trip, perfect for a real wilderness adventure. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so you'd better keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. | rivers. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. There's camping available near Chickaloon River. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came. The Talkeetna Mountains scenery is wonderful. This section of Chickaloon River is 33 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III+(IV) section.

40's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 10's while the cold winter nights at Chickaloon River are in the-10's. Chickaloon River gets very little rainfall.
