  The wonderful Matanuska-Susitna Borough Borough scenery and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so better not forget that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. The beauty of the Alaska Range is a great plus for this river. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature are
    great attractions for lots of people. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Anchorage, as you can see on the road map further down. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance
because these hotels fill up quick. A stretch this long is of course too much for a one day trip, perfect for a real wilderness adventure. The East Fork to Talkeetna section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. The campgrounds here at Chulitna River are pretty good. This stretch of Chulitna River is 77 miles long and is a class II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. No matter if you're whitewater rafting  
or kayaking around here you won't find a large number of other rivers.

Briefly about the general area:
Denali State Park is a pleasant spot to go to on a lovely day. At Chulitna River all through the long summer days highs are in the 60's with nighttime lows in the 40's. Throughout the winter this place gets highs in the 10's, and winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Chulitna River. Chulitna River gets a common amount of yearly rain. For the duration of August this area sees the most rain; May meanwhile is the driest month.
