There are some good sections to paddle in this river system, the Lower Canyon to Tidewater section is one of them. This stretch is short so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. The rivers for whitewater
rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so better not forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive
a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The scenic beauty of Alaska and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a pretty small number of paddling places. The campgrounds
here at Carlson Creek are pretty good.
