If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many runs in this state are not easy. The Echo Bend to Rapids Camp section of Eagle River in Alaska is 3 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class IV section.     The beauty of the Chugach Mountains is a great plus for this river. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of places for that. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while will make you glad you came. This is a short paddling stretch so better bring some good walking shoes. The starting location is a reasonable   drive from Anchorage, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Briefly about the general area: The Crow Pass Trail is a pleasant hiking trail in the neighborhood of Eagle River; Chugach State Park is both magnificent and scenic. All year is a magnificent time in the Chugach Mountains if you fancy the outdoors. There's no such thing as a bad day of skiing at nearby Alyeska; close by you find the Bird Creek Trail which is a tremendous hiking trail. At this river you will never have a bad time. Eagle River is typically a reasonably waterless place.
