The wonderful -blank- Borough
scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water have people coming here. The put-in location is a short drive from Anchorage, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The
Upper stretch of Little Susitna River in -blank- Borough is 5 miles long and it is classified as a class IV+ section by American Whitewater. The river winds through the Talkeetna Mountains and you get great scenery. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The Upper section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. And of course,
there are campgrounds nearby. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Alaska is often tougher than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that many runs in this state are not easy. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of spots for that. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. This stretch is mid length, you can easily run it on an afternoon.

Briefly about the general area:
You'll meet a lot of folks from Palmer here. Not much rainfall falls here at Little Susitna River. The month of September is the wettest with most of the rain while April is commonly the driest month.
