The Mother Lode Cookhouse and Saloon to Shrock Road Bridge stretch of Little Susitna River is 6.4 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV-V section. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Getting a good workout and spending some   quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. The Talkeetna Mountains scenery is wonderful. Briefly about the general area: You're sure to encounter some friendly people from Palmer here. Chugach State Park is a pleasant spot to stretch your legs a bit. Summer brings highs in the 60's to Little Susitna River with night lows in the 40's. For the period of the winter highs are typically in the 20's, and nighttime lows through the winter for Little Susitna River tend to be in the 0's.
