  The scenic beauty of Alaska and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The starting location is a short drive from Fairbanks, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are not so many other good places for that around here. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend
    some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. The Talkeetna Mountains scenery is wonderful. This section of Matanuska River - East Fork and Main Stem in Matanuska-Susitna Borough is 17.5 miles long and is according
to American Whitewater a class II+ section of whitewater. This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so why not pack your camping stuff too. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so better not forget that the rivers in this state are less manageable. And of course, there are campgrounds  
nearby. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.
