The starting location is a short drive from Anchorage, as you can see on the road map further down. This section of Nenana River in Denali Borough is 10.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III section. The natural beauty of Denali Borough and the playfulness of the water have people coming here. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good places for that |
around here. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so pack your camping stuff. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. No need to look hard for
| hotels, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. Briefly about the general area: At Nenana River you don’t see much rainfall. Of all the months in a year July is the one with the most rain while April is the month
with the least amount of precipitation. Summer brings highs in the 60's to Nenana River with overnight lows in the 40's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 10's; night lows during the wintertime for Nenana River tend to be in the-10's.
