The scenic beauty of Denali Borough and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Alaska you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. There are many good hotels to choose from, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping |
in your car. When you're paddling down a Alaska Range river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, you can easily run it on an afternoon.
| This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. The starting point is not too far from Anchorage, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The Twin Rocks to Healy stretch | |
