This section of Tiekel River in Alaska is 19 miles long and it is classified as a class II section by American Whitewater. The beauty of the Chugach Mountains     is a great plus for this river. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good places for that around here. The Richardson Highway to right above Canyon stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so go ahead and pack your camping stuff. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby.
