You are bunched in a canyon so you better google earth this or you won't make it. Says Thomas Kennedy This section of Tiekel River is 16 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class V+ section. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping     in your car. This section has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so pack your sleeping bag. The wild scenery of the Chugach Mountains is great. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a pretty small number of paddling spots. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Alaska are harder than the national norm, so if you're not from around here don't forget that the rivers in this state are less manageable. For all you camping   people there are campgrounds nearby. The scenic beauty of Alaska and the water flowing gracefully down Tiekel River will make you feel great. Briefly about the general area: High temperatures at Tiekel River all through the days of summer are in the 60's. During the moonlight hours it's typically in the 40's. Highs through the winter are frequently in the 0's; nighttime lows at Tiekel River during the winter frequently dip into the-20's. Tiekel River gets very little rainfall. All through July this area sees the most rain, and the driest of the months is April.
