The wonderful Arizona scenery and the cool fresh water have people coming here. The put-in location is a short drive from Phoenix-Mesa-Scottsdale, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you wonít get lost. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. The average Arizona whitewater
    rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. This river system has a few
good paddling stretches and the Stewart Mountain Dam to Granite Reef Dam section is one of them. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you donít have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you won't find a large number of other rivers.

You beyond doubt
must explore Lost Dutchman State Park while you're here at Salt River, and the fine folks of Fort Mcdowell like to hang out nearby. There are good spots to discover along the Second Water Trail. Salt River is pretty waterless typically. The wettest month of the year is ordinarily December, that's the one that rains the most, and June is the month with the least moisture. Summer brings highs in the 100's to Salt River, and during the night it cools down to the 70's. High temperatures during the winter are normally in the 60's; nighttime lows during the wintertime for Salt River tend to be in the 30's.
