There is nothing class III about this creek, it is solid class IV+. Don't under sell it. Says paddledog
This section of Beech Creek is 7.5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III-V section of whitewater. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often easier than in other states, so better not forget that quite a few of the sections in this state are pretty easy. The put-in is not too |
far from Harrison, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby.
| A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. This stretch has has enough mileage, it's good length for a morning trip. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of places for that. The natural beauty of Arkansas and the water flowing gracefully down Beech Creek are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The river winds | |

through the Boston Mountains and you get great scenery. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up
quick.
Briefly about the general area: There is a nice hiking trail close to Beech Creek called the Boston Cutoff, and this is a popular spot for folks from Kingston. There's no way anybody can get bored here
in the Boston Mountains. Going for a hike on the Turkey Trail is always a pleasant adventure; Panther Camp Hollow is in the neighborhood, and is a fine spot.
