Arkansas whitewater, Boss Hollow

Newton county, Headwaters to Hurricane Creek section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS III-IV+     3.8 miles
This stretch of Boss Hollow in Newton County is 3.8 miles long and has been rated as a class III-IV+ section by American Whitewater. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so keep in mind that rivers in this state are not as hard as elsewhere. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The beautiful Boston Mountains scenery is an added
bonus. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. This section is quite short so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one
stretch. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The starting location is a short drive from Harrison, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The nature scenery of Newton County and the cool fresh water will make you feel great. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around
here you'll find a large number of good places. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Headwaters to Hurricane Creek section is one of them.

Briefly about the general area:
Going for a hike along the Hurricane Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this vicinity.
