This river system is full of great paddling sections, the Tyler Bend to Gilbert section is just one of them. This stretch has has enough mileage, good for a one day paddling trip. Some people prefer   whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good places for that around here. Briefly about the general area: You ought to stop at Buck Point when you're here at Buffalo River, and there are plenty of folks from Saint Joe here at Buffalo River. You'll really wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the amusing stuff in the Boston Mountains.
