The wonderful Marion County scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Buffalo River are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The average Arkansas whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. You might have to settle |
for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large
| number of paddling spots. If you're coming from Mountain Home it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, as you can see on the road map further down. The beauty of the Boston Mountains is a great plus for this river. outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. This stretch is mid length, it's good length for a morning trip. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too.
Briefly about the
general area: Panther Hollow is a good place to discover; you're sure to come across some good folks from Harriet here. This site, the Boston Mountains, has so much outdoors entertaining stuff. Bull Shoals State Park
is a good place to visit. Throughout the summertime highs here at Buffalo River reach the 90's, and all through the night it cools down to the 60's.
