The Norman to Amity stretch of Caddo River is 29 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class I-II section. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your time,     so why not pack your camp stove too. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. The river winds through the Ouachita Mountains and you get great scenery. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good spots for that around here. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Arkansas tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so don't forget that rivers in this state are not as hard as elsewhere. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The nearby hotels are a bit away from   the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Briefly about the general area: Here at Caddo River there are plenty of folks from Glenwood. Caddo River is a relatively wet place generally with a lot of rainfall. The month with most of the rain is May, and January on the other hand is the driest. At Caddo River during the summer highs are in the 90's; throughout summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. For the duration of the winter highs are in the 40's, and night lows at Caddo River all through the wintertime commonly plunge into the 20's.
