The average Arkansas whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. This section of Cossatot River in Arkansas is 3.4 miles long and has been rated as a class II+ section by American Whitewater. If you're coming from Fort Smith it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you |
can see on the road map further down. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. When you're paddling down a Ouachita Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery
| along the way too. This is a pretty short section so no need to bring snacks. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too. The campgrounds here at Cossatot | |
