The put-in location is a short drive from Texarkana, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The beautiful Ouachita Mountains scenery is an added bonus. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. There     aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. There are so many sections to paddle in this river system, the Highway 246 to Ed Banks Road section is just one of many. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling rivers. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Arkansas you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so keep in mind that lots of rivers in this state are good for beginners. This section is quite short so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. This section   of Cossatot River in Howard and Polk County is 3.1 miles long and is a class II+ section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Daytime highs all through the winter are in the 40's; night lows during the winter for Cossatot River tend to be in the 20's.
