The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often easier than in other states, so better not forget that rivers in this state are not as hard as elsewhere. The nature scenery of Howard/ Sevier County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile. If you're coming from Texarkana it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Briefly about the general
area: The fine folks of Gillham like to hang out close by, and Cossatot River State Park is both tremendous and scenic. Now, you may think that's lots but there's even more amusing things to do here in the Ouachita Mountains.
Cossatot River commonly gets a good deal of precipitation. The wettest month of the year is frequently May, that's the one that rains the most, and January is when it's the driest.
