Arkansas whitewater, Crooked Creek Montgomery county, NFR 43 to Little Missouri section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS III-IV     3 miles   If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so keep in mind that quite a few of the sections in this state are pretty easy. This stretch of Crooked Creek in Arkansas is 3 miles long and has been rated as a class III-IV section by American Whitewater. This is a somewhat short section so better bring some good walking shoes. The NFR 43 to Little Missouri stretch is one     of a few paddling stretches in this river system. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The beautiful scenery of Arkansas and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. Whitewater paddling here in the Ouachita Mountains is a great experience. The starting point is not too far from Hope, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter,   there are lots of good places for that around here. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Briefly about the general area: A glorious spot near Crooked Creek is Mosquito Gap, and lots of folks from Langley come here. Having a great time in the Ouachita Mountains is trouble-free. Good hiking is available along the Gap Mountain Trail, and sites like Daisy State Park are perfect to stop at. This is such a great river. The high level of rain makes Crooked Creek a rather wet site. Of all the months in a year May is the one with the most rain, and January is the month with the least moisture.
