If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers in this state are not as hard as elsewhere. The NFR 274 Access to Ouachita River Close to Sims section of Fiddlers Creek is 5.5 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater     as a class II section. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. On this section you do get some distance, it's good length for a morning trip. The river winds through the Ouachita Mountains and you get great scenery. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while will make you glad you came. The NFR 274 Access to Ouachita River Close to Sims section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good spots. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you   want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. If you're coming from Russellville it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Briefly about the general area: If the weather is good here at Fiddlers Creek, you can go for a hike along the Gap Mountain Trail. Don't leave Fiddlers Creek without stopping by Ouachita National Forest; during your journey here you'll meet some people from Sims for sure. Lots of fun awaits you along this river.
