The Ridgeway Road to Highway 270 stretch of Gulpha Creek in Garland County is 2.2 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II+ section of whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the sections in this state     are safe for beginners. This is a short paddling stretch so no need to bring snacks. There are some good hotels near the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. The wild scenery of the Ouachita Mountains is great. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. There's camping available near Gulpha Creek. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. The scenic beauty of Arkansas and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream   make the trip here worthwhile. Briefly about the general area: When you're here at Gulpha Creek it's always fun to visit Lake Catherine State Park, and nearby you come across Spencer Bay. You'll beyond doubt wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the fun stuff in the Ouachita Mountains. The good people of Hot Springs like to hang out close by; popping by Hot Springs National Park is just something you need to do if you haven't yet. This river is so perfect. Gulpha Creek is a wet site that gets a good deal of rain. All through March this area sees the most rain while January is usually the driest month.
