The Along Highway 23 section of Haw Creek in Arkansas is 4 miles long and it is classified as a class II-III+ section by American Whitewater. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Arkansas are often more forgiving than |
in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers in this state are not as hard as elsewhere. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling places. Great exercise and spending
| some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. On this section you do get some distance, it's good length for a morning trip. When you're paddling down a Boston Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if | |
|
you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby.
Briefly about the general area: The Grassy Point Trail offers hiking at its best, and Ozark National
Forest is a good place. So much exciting stuff to do in the Boston Mountains, not enough time. Haw Creek is a place with many visitors from Hagarville, and Haw Creek is right by the Turkey Trail. This is such a wonderful
river. You might want to pay a visit to Bowman Hollow if you're here at Haw Creek. All through the warm months highs here at Haw Creek get into the 90's; the nighttime is a tad cooler of course, regularly in the 60's.
