The wonderful Arkansas scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so better not forget that the rivers in     this state are less demanding. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This stretch of Illinois Bayou in Pope County is 10 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class I-II section. The beauty of the Boston Mountains is a great plus for this river. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. This section is   long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so pack your camping stuff. This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too. Briefly about the general area: Why not take a refreshing hike along the Mail Trail, and a magnificent site close by is Epson Hollow. Man, is there a lot of entertaining things to do in the Boston Mountains. The Cowan Hollow Trail offers hiking at its best; there are plenty of folks from Hector here. This river is a wonderful place to visit. Illinois Bayou is a reasonably wet place regularly with a good deal of precipitation.
