The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Fayetteville-Springdale-Rogers, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. | campgrounds nearby. The Devils Den State Park to Highway 220 stretch of Lee Creek is 8.4 miles long and is a class II-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. less demanding. This stretch has has enough mileage, you can easily run it on an afternoon. The wild scenery of the Boston Mountains is great.
Briefly about the general area: Lake Fort Smith State Park is a good
location, and nearby you find the Butterfield Hiking Trail which is a wonderful hiking trail. Just can't get enough of the Boston Mountains. Places like Devil's Den State Park are wonderful to visit; you'll probably meet
some people from Chester here. This is such a fun river. High temperatures at Lee Creek during the months of summer are in the 90's; the nighttime is quite colder of course, frequently in the 60's.
