The scenic beauty of Crawford Washington County and the playfulness of the water will make you feel great. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. A good     workout and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of spots for that. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The Devils Den State Park to Highway 220 stretch of Lee Creek is 8.4 miles long and is a class II-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Arkansas are often easier than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that the rivers in this state are   less demanding. This stretch has has enough mileage, you can easily run it on an afternoon. The wild scenery of the Boston Mountains is great. Briefly about the general area: Lake Fort Smith State Park is a good location, and nearby you find the Butterfield Hiking Trail which is a wonderful hiking trail. Just can't get enough of the Boston Mountains. Places like Devil's Den State Park are wonderful to visit; you'll probably meet some people from Chester here. This is such a fun river. High temperatures at Lee Creek during the months of summer are in the 90's; the nighttime is quite colder of course, frequently in the 60's.
