If you're coming from Fort Smith it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The nature scenery of Crawford County and the water flowing gracefully down Lee Creek have people coming here. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling spots. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, |
and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The river winds through the Boston Mountains and you get great scenery. This stretch of Lee Creek in Arkansas is 3 miles long and it is classified as a class II+ section
| by American Whitewater. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. This is a somewhat short section so no need to bring snacks. Briefly about the general area: Lots of folks from Cedarville come to Lee Creek; naturally, everybody loves Devil's
Den State Park. And if that's not enough there's lots more entertaining stuff to do in the Boston Mountains. Going for a hike on the Butterfield Hiking Trail is always a delightful adventure. Lake Fort Smith State Park is
a nice site to go if you're at Lee Creek. All the water falling down from the sky makes Lee Creek a wet location. May is the wettest month with most rain while January is typically the driest month.
