that many runs in this state are very easy. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations
| you might end up sleeping in your car. The Highway 246 to Highway 278/4 section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of places for that. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, good for | |
|
a one day paddling trip. The river winds through the Ouachita Mountains and you get great scenery.
Briefly about the general area: Moore Creek is not far at all from Umpire, and Cossatot River State Park is a
good place to go. So many enjoyable things to do in the Ouachita Mountains, not enough time. For the duration of the days of summer here at Moore Creek, high temperatures frequently get into the 80's. Once the sun is down
it sinks down to the 60's. The winter brings highs down to the 40's, and after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Moore Creek dip into the 20's.
