The wonderful Arkansas scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make the trip here worthwhile. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This is a short paddling stretch     so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so if you're not from around here don't forget that quite a few of the sections in this state are pretty easy. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. The Boston Mountains scenery is wonderful. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. The Headwaters to Mill Creek stretch of Mormon Creek in Arkansas is 1.5 miles long and has been rated as a class IV(V) section by American Whitewater. The campgrounds   here at Mormon Creek are pretty good. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. Briefly about the general area: Lake Fort Smith State Park is worth going to if you're at Mormon Creek, and if you're here you will meet lots of folks from close by Mountainburg. There's no way anybody can get bored here in the Boston Mountains. Fern Spring is a good local attraction, and if you're here you can take a hike along the Shores Lake Water Rock Spur. The surroundings of this river have so much to offer. Summertime at Mormon Creek comes with high temperatures in the 90's.
