If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Arkansas you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less demanding. The Barkshed to Allison section of North Sylamore Creek in Arkansas is 12.5 miles long and     is rated by American Whitewater as a class I-II section. The wonderful Stone County scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. This stretch is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so pack your camp stove. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Whether you're whitewater   rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The wild scenery of the Boston Mountains is great. Briefly about the general area: The fine people of Fifty Six like to hang out nearby, and a wonderful spot to have a look at close by is Caney Hollow. Man, is there a lot of cool stuff to do in the Boston Mountains. A short visit to Branscum Spring is always worthwhile. Through the warmest time of the year highs here at North Sylamore Creek reach the 90's. Summer nighttime lows descend down to the 60's.
