The beautiful scenery of Polk and Montgomery County and the playfulness of the water beats anything. This section of Ouachita River in Arkansas is 35.4 miles long and is a class I-II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Whitewater paddling here in the Ouachita     Mountains is a great experience. There are so many sections to paddle in this river system, the Acorn to Little Hope Road section is just one of many. Now this is a pretty long section, so it looks like you will be camping out. If you're coming from Fort Smith it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature are great attractions for lots of people. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. You might be   into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good spots. The campgrounds here at Ouachita River are pretty good. Briefly about the general area: Here at Ouachita River there are plenty of people from Boles. Ouachita River gets a large amount of water. May is the wettest month with most rain; January is when it's the driest. At Ouachita River during the months of summer highs are in the 90's. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 60's. Highs throughout the wintertime are regularly in the 50's, and after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Ouachita River sink into the 20's.
