The scenic beauty of Montgomery County and the water flowing gracefully down Ouachita River will make you feel great. This section of Ouachita River in Montgomery County is 29.4 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-II section. There are some good sections to paddle in     this river system, the Little Hope Road to USFS Dragover Campground section is one of them. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. If you hurry you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so why not pack your camping stuff too. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good spots for that around here. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that quite a few of the sections in this   state are pretty easy. When you're paddling down a Ouachita Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. Briefly about the general area: Lots of people from Pencil Bluff come to Ouachita River, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Ouachita River; Gap Mountain Trail is a perfect local trail. All year is a perfect time in the Ouachita Mountains if you have a thing about the outdoors.
